The Art of Making a Baby

This blog is great for any first time mom! I've read "cover to cover" and it was a great source during my pregnancy. This woman does her research and gives you all the information on different subjects. Plus you get to see pictures of her adorable little girl.

Even better, she almost always has giveaways!

Relief

For the past couple months Jake and I have been trying to figure out exactly how everything is going to work once I go into labor. How are we getting there, remembering the hospital bag and contact list, and the most important, what are we going to do with Duke? We know Duke is allowed in the hospital but we assumed he wasn't allowed in the actual delivery room. That's weird right? So our plan was to leave Duke at the apartment [which neither of us is actually comfortable doing, let alone Duke being comfortable with that....yeah, no] if it's the middle of the night and no one answers, or drop Duke off at one of our friend's apartments if he's awake and he'd bring Duke up to the hospital after Ethan is born. I brought it up to the nurses at my appointment today and one of them went to ask Dr.Noble about it. Well, we worried for nothing. Dr.Noble is completely okay with Duke being in the room the entire time, even during delivery. We can just pack everything up, including Duke, and just head to the hospital. No worrying about him or finding a place where he won't freak out. [[and no worrying about Jake having a seizure in the middle of delivery. just sayin.]] Yayy relief.

Pregnancy Survey - Week 39

How far along: 38 weeks 4 days

Total Weight Gain: 50ish lbs.

Stretchmarks: Less itchy now that they've been around a couple weeks which is nice. The tallest ones come about an inch above my belly button. I plan on taking pictures of the [hopefully] fading process after I have Ethan.

Sleep: This weekend was amazing. Jake and I did NOTHING. Ahh. We haven't had a weekend like that in forever. So we got to sleep as much as we wanted and when we weren't sleeping we were just reading or watching movies. It was so restful, I feel great!

Best Moment This Week: Jake's birthday!

Movement: He takes up pretty much my entire stomach area at this point so he can't move a whole whole lot and when he does it's quite uncomfortable. I like him to move enough that I know hes okay but that's about it. Baby boy can be lodged into my ribcage and yet hitting my cervix at the same time. Ouch!

Labor Signs: Dr.Noble today "any contractions?" "nope" "*silence* ... okay, maybe next week then!" He was surprised. Basically I've got nothing going on, just pregnant.

Belly Button: Not going anywhere.

What I Miss: Being able to bend over. I was able to do this much longer than I expected but the past week it's almost impossible. Ethan just takes up too much room and you can't exactly bend a baby.

What I am Looking Forward to: Working on getting my body back. :)

Milestones: He passed his non-stress test in the normal 20 minutes this week. Thankfully since last week after the hour it took my back was killing me.

Ethan's Heartbeat

Hopefully this works! Turn your volume up to hear my little man's heartbeat!

Pregnancy Survey : Week 38

How far along: 37 weeks 5 days

Total Weight Gain: 45-50lbs

Stretchmarks: As I said last week, they're bad. They creep up more and more each day slowly overtaking my whole tummy.
But it's okay! They'll fade when I'm you know, toned and stuff again. [trying to be optimistic!]

Sleep: I seem to wake up to pee less but I think it's because I'm staying up later. So I'm not getting a whole lot of sleep but I make it through my days okay.

Best Moment This Week: Starting all the "natural induction techniques" if you know what I mean ;)

Movement: He's actually slowed down a lot this week. We went in for the NST test [they just monitor his movement] and it took a freakin hour to get enough movement out of him.

Labor Signs: I feel like I might be having braxton hicks sometimes? But still basically nonexistent. I'm having some gross feet and ankle swelling--not a labor sign but definitely a pregnancy thing. Oh oh and booby leakage! hahaha. Totally TMI. That's what you get for reading.

Belly Button: Same as last week. "Barely an inny. I don't think it's going to end up popping out though."

What I Miss: Stomach sleeping. If I could crash on my bed in my belly I would be able to sleep. I hope I don't have to have a c-section. I know v-labor mamas that slept on their stomach the very first night! Ahh what I would give for that.

What I am Looking Forward to: 6 weeks with just my baby and my hubby. I'm SO lucky that I have my husband with me during my entire maternity leave. Who gets that? Such a blessing.

Milestones: Not a lot going on with baby anymore, he's just getting fatter. :)

37 Weeks 5 Days!

Full Moon Tonight

Old wive's tales [and L&D nurses] will tell you more women go into labor when there is a full moon. Maybe the moon affecting our "water"? Who knows. I saw my OB when I was grocery shopping tonight, maybe it's a sign! Yeahhh right.

I decided to tempt this full moon even more by making some spicy food. My favorite dish in the entire world, sausage and shells. If I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life, this would be it. It's the most delicious meal I've ever had and it never ever gets old. Sadly I don't make it often because I'm lazy. :( Today it was a preggo-lady necessity!

What makes up sausage and shells::

My husband has to gag his way through it--he's clearly insane. I've already finished my second helping.

On another note--happy full term day!

Labor cake?

More like preggo lady's dream cake. I'm not sure how I learned about this but as soon as I read the recipe I knew I had to make it. Devil's food cake, chocolate chips and chocolate pudding? Duh I'm in.

It's supposedly a natural induction technique but I'm definitely just in it for the chocolate heart attack.

::hubby stalkerazzied with the camera::

Yeahhhh I'm excited

Thickest cake mixture ever

It's BAKINGGGG

All done!

Omg. Just as delicious as I imagined.

[[Now you know why I've gained 45lbs. XD]]
